Burns Flat, OK Rescuer Thanks Rescue and Pilot For Saving Hungry Mother Yellow Lab And Puppies

All animals arrived safely Monday afternoon in Colorado.

Last week, Terry Lynn Fisher was called about an animal in distress.

She discovered a starving female yellow lab which was taken to the local shelter, then returned with her ACO to collect four puppies around the age of 12 weeks from the same location.

As the mother dog, now named Angel, recovered and got better and gained weight quickly, Terry Lynn sent out a plea for rescuers to assist.

A wonderful rescue named Retriever Rescue of Colorado heard the plea, and two ladies named Ruthann and Sharon offered to take the dogs. They arranged transport through Pilots N Paws, who offered to fly directly in to Burns Flat, OK to get the dogs and take them back to Colorado. So, everything was arranged quickly, and the flight team of Dave and Suzanne landed in Burns Flat Monday morning June 22, 2009.

The puppies were loaded:

Angel counted her puppies to make sure all were inside:

Angel surveyed the plane interior:

Angel said, "okay, let"s buckle" up:

The dogs (and crew) waved good bye and headed out:

When sky bound, Angel took advantage of the in-flight nap service, courtesy of the attendant:

Once the dogs were safely in Colorado, Ruthann and Sharon sent a picture:

Terry Lynn"s letter to all her contacts Monday afternoon:

THE POOR, SKINNY, HALF STARVED YELLOW LAB TOOK FLIGHT TODAY...LOOKING 100% BETTER THAN JUST 5 DAYS AGO, THE PRECIOUS ANGEL, ALONG WITH HER 4 VERY FAT AND SASSY BABIES, BOARDED A PLANE AND HEADED FOR RETRIEVER RESCUE OF COLORADO...

THE WONDERFUL DAVE WHITNEY AND HIS WIFE SUZANNE, FLEW STRAIGHT TO BURNS FLAT AND PICKED THIS BEAUTIFUL FAMILY UP AND FLEW THEM TO RUTHANN, IN DENVER.

DAVE IS A VOLUNTEER WITH THE PILOTS N PAWS PROGRAM...I WAS SO TOUCHED BY THIS...IT WAS LIKE ANGEL KNEW THEY WERE HERE TO SAVE HER LIFE...AND TO SEE HOW KIND AND GENTLE DAVE AND SUZANNE WERE WITH THIS PRECIOUS MOMMA...WHAT WONDERFUL PEOPLE THEY ARE AND HOW VERY GRATEFUL I AM TO THEM FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO HELP THIS FAMILY...

MY DEAR FRIEND AND FOSTER, LINDA AND HER MOM WENT WITH ME...THIS WAS SUCH A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE...TO SEE ANGEL SITTING IN THE PLANE, LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW, IT BROUGHT US TO TEARS...

SO, THIS STARVING MOMMA IS SAFE IN DENVER AND WILL NEVER KNOW HUNGER AGAIN...I LOOK FORWARD TO POSTING UPDATES AND PICTURES ON HER. SHE STOLE SO MANY HEARTS, JUST BECAUSE WHERE MANY DOGS WOULD HAVE ALREADY DIED FROM NEGLECT, THIS MOMMA STILL LOVED AND TRIED TO NURSE HER BABIES...SHE HAD A WILL TO LIVE, AND THANKS TO DAVE, SUZANNE, AND RUTHANN, SHE WILL GET THE CHANCE...

WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE THIS WAS FOR ME...I AM SO HAPPY I WAS A PART OF IT...

TERRY LYNN

Terry Lynn forwarded a letter from Dave and Suzanne last night:

Terry and Ruthann,

I can't tell you how nice it was to meet you both today and to take part in Angel's flight. Y ou guys are the real heroes. I can't believe how much you both do to help out these special dogs, and it was a real pleasure to do a small part to help. I hated to see Angel go- she was such a gentle sweetheart. I miss her already and cherish the memory of the short time we had with her and her pups. The flight went very smoothly, and Angel spent most of it sleeping on Suzanne's lap! The pups were pretty vocal at first ( I had a little trouble hearing the tower!), but they calmed down and were quiet and content to have momma right in the seat in front of them. The meeting at Longmont went great, and we spent some time with Lee, who I know will take great care of Angel. Ruthann called 9 news here, so PilotsnPaws got a little air time that will hopefully get a few more pilots involved to unite these animals with their new owners. Spending time with all of you special people and special dogs leaves me with a feeling in my heart that will never go away. Thanks for letting us take part, and stay in touch! Dave and Suzanne
