Fill the Trucks with Pet Food and Benefit Needy Pets in Jacksonville

First Coast No More Homeless Pets Pet Food Bank will be collecting food on September 24 in three Jacksonville locations

First Coast No More Homeless Pets Pet Food Bank is Jacksonville"s only pet food bank. They have been distributing food to the families of thousands of dogs and cats on the First Coast since March 2010 and have given out over 250,000 pounds of food.

But right now their food supplies are running low and they need help meeting the needs of local pet parents.

On September 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. trucks will be stationed at three locations in the Jacksonville area to collect pet food - Orange Park Mall (in front of Sears), Harbour Village Shopping Center (in front of Publix at Atlantic Boulevard near Hodges) and Whole Foods (San Jose Boulevard).

Two Men and A Truck is donating their trucks to collect food at each location and volunteers will be on hand to unload donations directly from donors" vehicles. All types of dry dog and cat food are needed. Cash donations will also be accepted.

About First Coast No More Homeless Pets Pet Food Bank (from September 12, 2011 press release)

This program uses no taxpayer dollars. Food is collected through individual donations and food drives. Some of our clients include disabled veterans, seniors on fixed incomes, victims of layoffs, single parent families and many others who are struggling to make ends meet and do not want to have to give up the family pets, many of which are rescued from shelters.

Those who receive food must meet income qualifications, and pets must be spayed or neutered. FCNMHP offers a free surgery for those who qualify. This element helps to further reduce the number of animals euthanized due to overpopulation.

Regular donations can also be taken to our facility Monday-Saturday between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The facility is located at 6817 Norwood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32208. We can arrange pick up of large donations.

About the Best Friends "pets are family" initiatives

The Best Friends "pets are family" initiatives focus on helping people make and honor a lifetime commitment to their pets. Millions of companion animals die every year in crowded shelters because their families gave them up for some reason. Through education, intervention, and action, we provide guidance and resources to help people care for their pets and keep them as members of their family.
