Jane Goodall highlights homeless pets at this year’s Rose Parade

Chuck, a German Shepherd mix, will represent the many fabulous animals available for adoption.

Legendary wildlife conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall will be serving as the grand marshal of the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade. And trotting alongside the grand marshal’s horse-drawn carriage will be Chuck, a five year old German Shepherd mix. Chuck was a last-minute replacement for Kara who happily was adopted the day before the parade. Lucky Chuck!

The addition of a dog like Chuck to the festivities was Jane’s idea as the plight of homeless pets is close to her heart. As one of Best Friends Acclaimed Ambassadors, Jane has been a supporter of Best Friends’ work for many years, which includes our NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) coalition of more than 50 animal welfare organizations working to stop the killing of animals in Los Angeles city animal shelters.

Chuck is waiting for his forever home at the Best Friends Pet Adoption and Spay/Neuter Center in Mission Hills. Click here for more information.

Thank you, Jane, for showing Rose Parade attendees and the millions who view the event on television that Chuck, and all other homeless pets, are something special!
