About Animal Friends Humane Society
Animal Friends Humane Society, Inc. was established in 1999 and was initially called Friends of the Animal Shelter. The organization began as an all volunteer, non-profit organization with the goal of improving the quality of life for animals in the Decatur Animal Shelter by providing supplies, Veterinary care and equipment for the Shelter.
From 2004 through 2006, Animal Friends focused on sheltering, adopting, and fostering homeless animals in the local community. Since 2007, Animal Friends has worked to maximize every dollar received by focusing its efforts on a Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance program for Morgan County, Alabama residents. The organization"s Animeals Program began in 2006 and provides Meals On Wheels clients with their pet food and kitty litter each month delivered by volunteers.
