Elizabeth Jensen, executive director, Best Friends Animal Society–New York

Elizabeth Jensen is the executive director of Best Friends Animal Society–New York. In this capacity, Elizabeth heads up all aspects of the New York region’s local program work — including Best Friend’s east coast super adoption and Strut Your Mutt. Elizabeth also oversees operations at Best Friends brand new Pet Adoption Center located in the heart of SoHo, designed to be a national lifesaving concept space that showcases adoptable dogs and cats from multiple regional 501(c)(3) organizations and the New York city sheltering system. Elizabeth works closely with the No More Homeless Pets Network specialist in the Northeast Region to drive lifesaving and spur collaboration.

Prior to coming on board with Best Friends, Elizabeth worked for 17 years in a leadership capacity at Bergdorf Goodman, an iconic New York City luxury retailer, and graduated Rutgers University with majors in political science and medieval studies. A supporter and volunteer of Best Friends for over 15 years, Elizabeth currently lives in Connecticut with her rescue dog Scout, and her rescue standardbred racehorse, Music.
