Free public events
We’re happy to make a number of activities available to the public at this year’s national conference. The following is a list of events open to everyone.
Exhibit Hall Community Hours
We will be offering public access to the Exhibit Hall during select times (see times below). Explore all of the different products and services available for animal lovers and advocates, and enjoy informational sessions on topics like pet DNA, healthy meal planning and more.
But that’s not all! We’ll also have some legendary guests in attendance. Animal Planet’s Jackson Galaxy and disco diva Gloria Gaynor are scheduled to appear. Now, where else will you find a cat behavior legend and a disco legend together at the same time?
Friday, July 14, 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 15, 9:00 p.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center, Wildwood 4
Countdown to 2025: Rising to the Challenge — No Fear
Closing session with Julie Castle, chief development, communications and marketing officer for Best Friends
The story of our movement is one of continually challenging the status quo on behalf of the animals. Whatever the odds and the obstacles, the no-kill movement has defied them — whether that was in the form of the Best Friends founders launching a movement from a sanctuary in the middle of the desert in 1984 with little more than goodwill and an idealistic vision, or Rich Avanzino defying the active opposition of his peers to turn San Francisco into the first no-kill community. Today, as we head into the final leg of this historic journey to achieve a no-kill America by 2025, the primary lesson from those who have come before us is a simple one: no fear!
Saturday, July 15, 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
