Best Friends Member Appreciation Event, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wildwood 17
Join fellow Best Friends members, some of Best Friends’ founders and author W. Bruce Cameron for a special evening. The first 300 people who attend the event will receive an autographed copy of Cameron’s newest book, A Dog’s Way Home, along with a goody bag. Attendees are welcome to become members or renew their membership at the door. Also in attendance will be the lovable Aladdin, ambassador dog for Tito’s Vodka! Light refreshments will be provided, along with a cash bar.

New Jersey Legislative Reception, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wildwood 9
Get the latest scoop on Best Friends’ legislative efforts in New Jersey. We’ll discuss our recent success in passing the first statewide no-kill resolution and talk about other ordinances related to pit bull terriers, community cats and puppy mills. We’d love to hear from New Jersey animal advocates, so please join us and contribute your thoughts on how we can continue to help pets in the Garden State.

Strut Your Mutt Lunch Takeover, 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.

Want some help setting up your Strut Your Mutt fundraising page? We’ve got your back! Best Friends staff and volunteers will be giving a special video presentation on Strut Your Mutt during Thursday’s lunch and walking around with iPads to help you sign up. Let’s get struttin’!

Welcome Reception, 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Exhibit Hall, Wildwood 4
Start your conference experience off on the right foot at the welcome reception in the exhibit hall. Meet and mingle with fellow attendees, do a little shopping (hilarious dog T-shirt, perhaps?), and wander through the fabulous line-up of exhibitor booths on hand. Light snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Network Partner Appreciation Party, 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Rear of exhibit hall
Is your organization a No More Homeless Pets Network partner? If so, join us for a special VIP gathering. Network with other partners, as well as some special guests, and enjoy some hors d’oeuvres, special giveaways (hint: Lifesaving funding, anyone?) and a cash bar (beer or wine). Your first beverage is on us! Just make sure to wear your purple network partner ribbon.

Yaps and Apps Networking Party, 6:30 p.m. –9:00 p.m.
The Pool at Harrah’s
This is the happy hour for animal lovers! Join us at the resort pool for light snacks and beverages to wrap up your Friday conference fun. Make sure to wear your name badge and bring your free drink ticket, along with a valid ID (for your 21+ wrist band) and any additional cash you might want for the bar. It can get a wee bit humid at the pool area, so make sure to dress for comfort (shorts and sneakers or sandals are great). One small note: The party will need to wrap up at 9 o’clock sharp. So, be ready to grab your fellow “party animals” and head for your crates, cat trees or another play area on time.

Alley Cat Allies Tours
In partnership with Alley Cat Allies, Best Friends will be coordinating tours of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Cats Project on Sunday. If you’ve already registered for the tour, a staff member will be emailing you with additional details. Registration for the tours is now full.

Other conference activities and events

Atlantic City Boys and Girls Club Book Drive
We’ll be hosting a book and school supply drive to benefit the Atlantic City Boys and Girls Club. Please donate any useful school supplies and/or a copy of your favorite animal-focused children’s book to help spread the message of kindness to animals.

BOBS Scavenger Hunt
Has your dog ever hidden your shoes from you? Well, this is sort of like that. We’ll be hiding 150 BOBS “shoes” throughout the conference space for you to find. Return each shoe you find to the Strut Your Mutt table in the Exhibit Hall by noon on Saturday, and you’ll get a chance to be one of five randomly selected winners of a BOBS gift card, free Strut Your Mutt registration and $50 added to your personal Strut Your Mutt fundraising page!

Swag Swap
Take your networking and promotion to the next level with our swag swap table. Rules are as follows: (1) Leave an item, take an item; (2) all items should be new and include your organization’s name, logo and/or tagline; and (3) items should be more substantive things, like shirts, cups and tote bags (no pens and key chains).
