Actress and animal advocate Tricia Helfer recently starred in the highly-rated SyFy network mini-series "Ascension" which asked audiences "what if" in the 1960s the United States had sent the best and brightest into space to colonize a new world? In real life, Helfer is asking people to imagine "what if" everyone adopted their pets from shelters and rescues.

"Animals have the purest sense of love," says actress and former model Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Gallactica", "Burn Notice"), who helps return that love through her advocacy. Her support of Best Friends includes participation in our Fluffball fundraiser, Strut Your Mutt, Super Adoptions and the grand opening of the No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) Pet Adoption Center.

"My cats teach me and calm me every day," says Tricia. "As a society we tend to think more of household pets, but we need to think of all animals. The biggest to the smallest, they are all just innocence and love."
