IL: Call/tweet the governor about Senate Bill 154

UPDATE: This important bill has passed the state legislature but still needs Gov. Pritzker's signature. Ask him to sign SB 154 into law today.

Nationally, about 15% of the dogs and cats that were surrendered to animal shelters in 2019 were being given up due to housing issues.

Much of this is due to a lack of affordable housing options that allow pets — or if pets are allowed, there are arbitrary weight and/or breed restrictions that force families to make difficult decisions about their beloved pet.

Illinois Senate Bill 154 would require property owners who receive state funding for low-income housing to allow tenants to have well-behaved dogs and cats, keeping more pets in homes where they belong.

This important bill has been passed the state legislature but still needs to be signed into law by the governor.

TAKE ACTION: Please call and/or tweet the governor's office and urge him to sign SB 154 into law. A sample script is provided on the call.
