FL: Help stop puppy mill sales in Manatee County
GREAT NEWS! On August 10, 2021, the Manatee County Board of Commissioners voted to approve an ordinance that will prohibit pet stores from selling commercially bred dogs and cats.
Thank you to all who took action!
The Manatee County Board of Commissioners is considering a lifesaving ordinance that would prohibit pet stores from selling commercially bred dogs and cats.
If enacted, this measure will help put an end to the suffering of countless animals in substandard breeding facilities and reduce killing in Florida shelters.
By shrinking the retail market for milled pets, more homeless dogs and cats will have a chance to be adopted.
Floridians have made it clear they do not support pet mills. That’s why more than 70 cities and counties throughout Florida have already passed laws to ban the retail sale of pets from inhumane breeding facilities. Now Manatee County is poised to join them.
TAKE ACTION: You can help make this important proposal a reality! Urge your local officials to enact a humane pet sales ordinance now.
And please attend the August 10 hearing to voice your support.
