Locations: Kanab, UT

Hiring Range: This position’s hiring range is anticipated to be $18.00 to $22.00 hourly, depending on experience.

Manager interviews will start the week of January 13th and will continue weekly until the position is filled. (Recruiter phone screens will occur prior to these).

Promotes a positive and secure environment for our residences, animals, guests, and staff. By ensuring physical security at the Sanctuary. Promotes security standards and practices at all levels of the organization and administers the security program within Canyon Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Treat people around you with Kindness and Compassion, build trust by demonstrating authenticity and following through on your commitments, prioritize your well-being like you do our mission, and work to build strong relationships with your colleagues by participating in communication loops to share and receive honest feedback. You are responsible and accountable for the culture you add to your team dynamic.
  • Patrol premises during various hours of the day to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. Responds to all emergency codes for assistance and control. Patrols and inspects facility frequently to assist in maintaining a safer and more secure environment. Assists employees with security related matters, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, and conduct searches.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with visitors and staff. Implement physical security measures in support of Sanctuary staff, residents, facilities, and equipment.
  • Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving employees and visitors. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift.
  • Assists staff in handling Security related situations. Ensures security policies are being followed. Patrols unoccupied areas and sets the alarms when appropriate. Locks and unlocks facility doors at prescribed times Checks alarms to ensure they are in proper working order.
  • Enforcement of administrative rules and regulations throughout the Sanctuary.
  • Notify appropriate departments of security needs.
  • Appropriately and effectively utilizes assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have a current First Aid/First Responder certification or the ability to get said certification.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented in all contacts with visitors and staff.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret maps, diagrams, and equipment operations manuals; maintain records; make basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Work with a positive outlook, upbeat, energetic, and takes initiative.
  • Ability to accommodate changes in work priorities and/or scheduling.
  • Collaborative nature and willingness to work with various colleagues.
  • Willingness to learn on the job is a must.
  • Valid driver’s license, with 3 years clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

· Working outdoors, ability to perform physical work requiring coordination, agility, strength, and stamina. Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 80 pounds); prolonged periods of standing; stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing; manual dexterity.
