One look into Snuffy’s eyes and you can see she doesn’t feel well. The poor girl came to Best Friends with some pretty severe skin allergies. Her family couldn’t afford the care she needs, so she came to Best Friends, where she can heal and look for a family who can give her the care she needs.
She also stands the best chance of making friends like you, to help her on her healing journey. A sponsor reminds her how many people are out there rooting for her. So please consider sponsoring Snuffy.
We are overjoyed to let you know that sweet Snuffy has found a home! One of Snuffy’s caregivers has taken her back to Michigan.
Shelly tells us:
“I met Snuffy my third week into the job. She was a medical mess due to allergies and mouth issues, and obviously did not appreciate any of the other cats in her space, but she was a sweet, loving cat with humans. I started spending my lunch hours with her on my lap. She purred, made biscuits on my stomach, and drooled the entire time. I was in love.
“When we made the decision to move back to Michigan, it broke my heart to think of leaving Snuffy behind. Sadly, we lost one of our own cats a few weeks prior, so there was space in the transport van. So, on Christmas Eve, I pleaded Snuffy's case once again with John (my husband), prefacing it with ‘Whatever you decide, I will accept it.’ Then I told him that while I fell in love with dozens of other cats, Snuffy was the one who stole my heart. Because she's 13 years old and dealing with southern Utah environmental allergies, her chances of adoption are slimmer than others. And I know how to take care of her.
“He was silent for about two minutes, and all he said was ‘Merry Christmas. Why wouldn't we?’ I picked her up on Christmas day.
“Snuffy is still grumpy with our cats, but she loves the dogs (go figure). She follows me around the house like a puppy, and sleeps on my chest or my pillow every night. Snuffy has definitely found her forever home.”
Thank you so much for sponsoring Snuffy while she waited for this perfect home! Your generosity allows other cats just like Snuffy the time and care needed while waiting until their forever family finds them, too.
Lovely Snuffy is getting a little healthier and stronger every day.
Recently, while Snuffy was socializing on the catio, a volunteer kept fluffing up her beautiful long coat while she was petting her and started referring to her as Princess Fluffy Snuffy. Snuffy thought it had a nice ring to it, and was thrilled with the endless attention.
Both Snuffy’s stomatitis and allergies have been stable for a while now and she now takes special immunotherapy shots customized just for her. This boost in comfort and health has, of course, led to endless clowning around with her toy mice and whatever visitors she can entice to join her.
This beautiful, fluffy gal is going strong and certain that a special someone meant just for her will be walking through the door any day now. Thank you for making that possible through your sponsorship.
Hold onto your hats ladies and gentlemen. Because Snuffy is looking seriously snazzy! Just check out this photo of her.
After a few months of allergy shots, this long-haired beauty is feeling and looking like a new cat. Her beautiful grey and white coat has grown in and she’s also gained quite a bit of weight. She may not have been in the best shape when she got here, but Snuffy is ready for some action now.
Snuffy is equal parts play and snuggle. She can usually be found prancing around the catio playing with her toy mice, or curled up on a visitor’s lap soaking up the love. She even recently ventured out on a sleepover, now that she’s feeling so much better. It was quite evident that she had the time of her life.
We know that a loving home and family of her own is right around the corner for this sniffly, snuggly older girl. We can’t thank you enough for your sponsorship of Snuffy. You have helped turn things around for her and countless others like her.
