Andrea Joy (A.J.) Albrecht

Andrea Joy (A.J.) Albrecht is a policy and communications analyst with Best Friends’ legislative advocacy team. Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York, A.J. is the current chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, the technology vice chair of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, and the 2017 recipient of the New Jersey Young Lawyers’ Division Service to the Community Award.
At Best Friends, A.J. works on legislation that supports the no-kill movement, including ending breed discrimination and protecting community cats. A.J. also volunteers as a foster/adoption coordinator and social media manager for Rescue Haven Foundation (a Best Friends Network partner) and is the co-founder of Positive Pittie Pack Walk. She has been rescuing and fostering pit-bull-terrier-like dogs since 2013.
Prior to joining Best Friends, A.J. clerked for a superior court judge and litigated family law matters in private practice.
