Youth Outreach Specialist
Jennifer Andrews is the youth outreach specialist at Best Friends. In that role, she spends much of her time visiting Indian reservations, schools, libraries and community groups, teaching youth and adults about proper animal care, spay/neuter and adoption. She also leads school groups and youth clubs at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in an educational volunteer experience. During the pandemic, she is doing much of her work virtually.
In every presentation, Jennifer empowers kids to take action for the animals. She is also coordinating a work/study program for high school students who want to work in animal welfare and creating a vet tech assistant training program for local high school students.
Before joining the Best Friends family in 2006, Jennifer worked in Houston, Texas, as a personal trainer and physical therapy assistant. She has also worked as a web designer, content writer, middle school teacher and inner-city high school teacher for at-risk youth. During her years in Texas, she fostered and adopted dogs and volunteered with local rescue groups.
