Volunteer Engagement Manager
As the volunteer engagement manager, Lori Bernath is responsible for increasing volunteer capacity and engagement for Best Friends. Lori and her team focus on recruiting and building relationships with skilled volunteers who have the experience and desire to plan large-scale events, lead other volunteers and assist Best Friends staff with projects. Her team works with Best Friends staff to identify volunteer needs, create opportunities and recruit volunteers to help at events and with initiatives and other programming around the country. The team also engages with the 10,000-plus volunteers who come to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary annually.
Lori’s diverse experience within the organization as a staff and volunteer recruiter, trainer and marketing specialist provided her with the knowledge and skills needed for her current role. What she enjoys most about working with volunteers is their passion and dedication to Best Friends’ mission. She is in awe of what volunteers are willing to do and what they accomplish.
Lori, her husband and their four-legged family reside in Kanab, Utah. In her free time, she likes visiting the nearby national parks and hiking with her dogs amid the breathtaking southern Utah landscape.
