Communications manager of Best Friends Animal Society–Los Angeles

Dana CollinsDana Collins is the Los Angeles communications manager for Best Friends Animal Society. He oversees marketing for the No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA) initiative, Best Friends’ two L.A. adoption centers and the upcoming Los Angeles cat initiative. A relative newcomer to the nonprofit world, Dana was the architect for Best Friends’ hugely impactful Purritos and #Holiday100 campaigns.

Dana joined Best Friends in 2014 after more than 20 years in the music business, focusing on international marketing and artist management. After earning his degree in fine arts from UCLA as a painter, Dana joined legendary indie label A&M Records, working with artists such as Sheryl Crow, Gin Blossoms and Barry White. He moved to MCA Records in the mid-90s, where his talents helped shepherd the international careers of artists such as Blink 182, Semisonic and New Radicals. In late 1999, Dana joined Direct Management Group, where he was part of the team that helmed the successful careers of Katy Perry, k.d. lang, Counting Crows, Jamie Cullum, Adam Lambert and more. Dana also produced 2007’s nationally televised Stax Records 50th Anniversary Concert and 2005’s Songs of Strength Hurricane Katrina Benefit Concert. 

Dana is the father of six awesome rescued dogs: Baxter, Lola, Leroy, Rufus, Fifi and Mindy. He thinks his wife, a pediatrician, is pretty awesome, too.
