Public relations specialist for Best Friends Animal Society
Michelle Sathe is a public relations specialist with Best Friends Animal Society. Based in Los Angeles, she is focused on promoting the Best Friends–led NKLA (No-Kill Los Angeles) initiative. Michelle also works with the national PR team on strategy and outreach for organization-wide media campaigns.
Michelle previously worked as a program and development director for a spay/neuter organization and is currently a board member for an annual shelter pet adoption fair. Before transitioning to the nonprofit world, Michelle was a journalist, producer and freelance writer. She is also the author of Pit Stops and Pit Stops 2, which chronicle cross-country road trips with homeless pit bulls from the Los Angeles area.
Her best friends are Buster, a pit bull mix whom she found as a stray puppy 11 years ago, and Melvin, a 10-year-old dachshund mix with the most incredible snaggle teeth, whom she adopted from the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Mission Hills last summer.
