Planned Giving Officer
Andrea Grane is the planned giving officer for the Northeast region for Best Friends. She has loved animals since she was a little girl and says that growing up around them taught her immeasurable lessons. She worked in the art industry for many years, but a tiny emaciated puppy named Atlas whom she fostered and eventually adopted changed the course of her life. Atlas was rescued from a shelter that was not yet nokill, and he opened Andreas eyes and heart to what was happening in shelters across America. From then on, she spent all her spare time volunteering at local shelters, doing everything from cleaning kennels to hosting adoption events and fundraisers. It was then that she learned that her true calling was in animal welfare. Prior to joining Best Friends, a place that resonates so much with her mission and her hearts intent, she was given the great opportunity to start her planned giving career working for Bideawee, one of Americas first nokill shelters, located in New York. Today, she still has Atlas, as well as two other wonderful dogs named Leonidas and Muffin. She says Atlas, Leonidas and Muffin let her husband and her share their bed in Queens, New York.
