Senior Manager, National Training Programs
Andrew (Drew) Marsden is the Senior Manager of National Shelter Outreach for Best Friends Animal Society, overseeing training academies and customized learning experiences for animal welfare partners around the country. Through Best Friends’ shelter outreach program, Drew also helps conduct shelter operations assessments and develop implementation plans to increase community lifesaving. Before stepping into his national role with Best Friends, Drew served as the Senior Manager of Best Friends in Los Angeles. While in L.A., he oversaw operations and animal care for the Mission Hills lifesaving center and played an integral role in helping to move the city of Los Angeles toward no-kill. Drew has a Master of Science degree in animal science, with an emphasis in behavior and theory, from the University of California, Davis. He has worked as both a registered veterinary technician and hospital administrator for VCA Animal Hospitals. He also served as Director for the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA in California and has spent much of his animal welfare career developing leadership and learning plans for animal welfare professionals. Drew currently lives in Seattle, Washington, where he dutifully serves three dogs adopted from shelters in California and cares for eight outrageous community cats.
