Anna McClain

Founder / Pet Loss Grief Support Specialist

PAWS Pathway

Anna McClain (PGSS-C) was born and raised in Orange, California, and has treasured animals her whole life. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Cal State Fullerton University and has been certified as a pet loss grief support specialist since 2015. Her PAWS Pathway counseling focuses on the unique human-animal bond and is in honor of her sweet little chocolate poodle, Alfie, who passed away in 2016. Anna is currently attending Mt. San Antonio College pursuing multiple associate of arts Degrees, including psychology, and has future aspirations to pursue a master’s degree in social work and become a veterinary social worker. Anna has greatly enjoyed working with dogs, cats, cattle, horses, pigs and sheep as a veterinary assistant and has nearly completed her registered veterinary technician certification. Additionally, she works as a support specialist for DVMcenter and MN Pets, helping numerous clients nationwide with setting up at-home euthanasia and cremation services, and helping with quality of life discussions. Anna has much love and respect for Best Friends Animal Society and has volunteered, attended multiple classes, conferences and blessings, and was recently married at the Sanctuary in 2019 to her high school sweetheart, Stephan. She carries a deep compassion for helping people through the heartache of pet loss, and loves animals of all sizes. On her days off, Anna enjoys roller skating, driving and whitewater rafting, and always loves cuddling with her three dogs (Endi, Jenny and Charlie) and her two cats (Goldie and Starlight).
