Bethany Colonnese

Live Release Manager

Bethany Colonnese
Bethany Colonnese came to animal welfare through her work as a volunteer and foster parent after years in the restaurant industry. She used to manage pasta and now she manages puppies.

She is currently the live release manager at Animal Care Services of San Antonio. She manages a live release team and many programs that aim to keep pets out of shelters; increase sterilization of pets in the community; adopt out, foster and rescue as many as they can; and help citizens with their pets. In 2015, with the help of a grant, the live release team embarked on an intake diversion program that has reduced shelter admissions by more than 3,000 pets.

Bethany has a B.A. in sociology from the University of Arizona and recently got her master's in public administration from the University of Texas, San Antonio. She currently lives in San Antonio with two cats, two dogs, a lot of fur and a perpetually rotating group of foster pets.
