Christina Arriaga is the executive director of Rockwall Pets in Rockwall, Texas. She started with the organization in 2011 when they were a small group of volunteers on the brink of making the Rockwall shelter nokill. On a Sunday in 2012, Christinas foster dog was adopted and she took a trip out to Dallas Animal Services since it was the only shelter in the area that was open. She saw a sign saying their goal for the month was 40 percent live outcome and decided the need for rescue help couldnt be ignored. Rockwall Pets quickly became the shelters top transfer partner. In 2014, Christina earned the title of executive director and the organization established a strong relationship with Best Friends. Thanks to two generous grants from Best Friends, Rockwall Pets was able to build a robust transport program that has given a lifesaving ride out of Texas to close to 3,000 animals to date. Rockwall Pets is 100 percent fosterbased and consists of dedicated volunteers who share Christinas addiction to saving lives. Christina prides herself on building relationships and partnerships with other rescue groups and shelters locally and nationwide to help Dallas Animal Services achieve a sustainable live outcome rate of 90 percent.
