Erin Shackelford has been the executive director of the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals (OAA) since January of 2020. Prior to working with OAA, Erin worked in a variety of marketing and communications positions in the Tulsa area and has a background and experience in development, strategic planning, graphic design and nonprofit work. She had been an OAA volunteer for three years before accepting the executive director position, and she previously served four years on the board of directors for Sapulpa Furry Friends. She has been involved in the local animal welfare and advocacy world for nearly 10 years.Erin is a native Oklahoman and a graduate of Owasso High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Northeastern State University and her master’s degree in mass communication from Oklahoma State University. Currently, she and her husband share their home with three permanent canine residents: Sampson, a special needs pit bull adopted from a disabled pit bull rescue group; Jovie, a pit bull-boxer mix adopted from Sapulpa Furry Friends; and Jughead Jake, a pit bull rescued by OAA after getting a cheese puff jug stuck on his head for two weeks. They open their home to numerous dogs, puppies, cats and kittens throughout the year as a foster for both Oklahoma Alliance for Animals and Sapulpa Furry Friends.
