Janis Cooper

Sr Manager - Learning & Development

Best Friends Animal Society

Janis is the senior manager of leadership and staff development at Best Friends Animal Society. She has an enduring passion to help people deepen their confidence and reach their full potential in leadership and individual contributor roles. Toward that, she designs and delivers leadership training and programs, delivers DISC behavioral assessments and does team building while also utilizing a range of coaching modalities that serve as a catalyst for positive change. She also acts in an advisory role to the organization’s well-being programs. Prior to Best Friends, Janis ran her own business that provided leadership, team and personal development that evolved from an extensive corporate career leading global organizations. She holds coaching certifications in equine facilitated learning, appreciative inquiry and DISC, and she is also a certified positive intelligence coach and life coach. She has served on the board of directors for two equine-related nonprofit organizations. Logan found a forever home with Janis 10 years ago and has been her steadfast partner in her equine coaching practice. She also has an energetic 15-pound dog, Macy, who keeps Janis moving even when she’d like to be relaxing. Doing what she loves at Best Friends while having a positive impact toward saving the lives of animals is what Janis considers the best job ever.
