Julie Lessard

Julie Lessard is the director of programs with Ruff Start Rescue. She started volunteering with the Ruff Start in February of 2012 as a foster mom and soon after was offered the director of programs position. As director of programs, she oversees all the vital programs (intake, vetting, foster and adoption) by implementing policies and programs. She also works closely with the executive director, board of directors and the leadership team to help ensure that all of the programs are running smoothly and efficiently. Julie has had a love for animals since she was a young girl. She has a special liking for the overlooked black animals, seniors and very special shy dogs and cats. Julie is also an active volunteer with a nonprofit lost dog team called The Retrievers where she helps families bring their missing dogs home and ensures the safety of stray dogs. Julie has four four-legged kids: Meela, (shepherd mix), Gary, (black mini schnauzer-doxie mix), Daisy (black Lab mix) and Bella (Jack Russell terrier-doxie mix).
