Midwest Regional Specialist
Liz Stamper is the new Midwest regional specialist for Best Friends Animal Society. Liz grew up in Maryland but has been living in the Midwest since relocating for college. She is now a Hoosier at heart and is excited to help shelters across the region achieve lifesaving success. Before joining Best Friends, Liz worked in many roles at the Almost Home Humane Society AHHS in Lafayette, Indiana. Beginning her animal welfare journey in the kennels of AHHS in 2008, Liz soon noticed the need in her community to bring about better care for animals waiting for forever homes. Starting in 2013, Liz took over the marketing and media for her organization. She was instrumental in creating fun and creative adoption specials that helped increase AHHS adoption numbers by nearly 200. Over the next few years, Liz expanded into the roles of volunteer coordinator, foster coordinator, fundraising coordinator and finally medical manager. After realizing her passion was helping to keep shelter pets, particularly neonatal kittens, healthy and thriving, she moved into the role of medical manager, overseeing all aspects of shelter medicine and foster care for AHHS. Through her dedication to kittens, Liz helped improve the save rate and brought awareness to all the ways the community could get involved to help these tiny but mighty felines. Liz lives in Indiana with her husband, daughter and four cats.
