Maria Satira is an award-winning communications professional and author with experience in journalism, content writing, public relations and nonprofit marketing. She spent nearly 10 years as a news anchor and reporter in television markets along the East Coast, later moving into nonprofit communications for an economic development organization. She founded Maria Satira Media, LLC, in 2019 to help not-for-profit organizations achieve their media relations and communications goals.As the author of An Introduction to Media Relations for Nonprofit Organizations, Maria is an expert in the field of public relations. She’s shared her knowledge while speaking at a variety of conferences and forums in nonprofit, economic development and academic settings.Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she holds a bachelor’s degree with majors in media arts and communication from Robert Morris University. She has certifications in social media and content marketing as well as a professional certificate in business writing from University of California Berkeley Extension. Currently, she is working on an MBA in marketing from Fayetteville State University.Community involvement is of the utmost importance to Maria. She is passionate about animal rescue and has been a longtime board member, supporter and volunteer with the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina. She lives in Greenville, North Carolina, with her husband, Andrew, and their two rescue dogs, Badger and Yogi.
