Senior Manager of lifesaving shelter operations
Michael Bricker is a senior manager of lifesaving shelter operations for Best Friends. His first assignment in this role was to assume the director of operations position for Palm Valley Animal Center PVAC in Edinburg, Texas. Alongside shelter manager Jay Garrett Jr., Michael and the exceptional team at PVAC have been able to raise the live release rate by 15 percent since July of last year. A New Jersey native, Michael started working for Camden County Animal Shelter CCAS in 2014. As director of operations, he was handed the responsibility of running the shelters daytoday operations and ensuring that the animals at CCAS received firstclass care and treatment. One of Michaels first initiatives was to rewrite the shelters adoption policies to remove unnecessary barriers to adoption. Under the new program, CCAS saw a 46 percent increase in adoptions over the next two years. Michael then helped to create a Lifesaving Department, launch CCASs community cat program, pioneer the RentADog program, and modernize the shelters medical operations. These changes helped CCAS achieve its current 93 percent live release rate.
