Pat Guerrero

Director, national volunteer engagement

Best Friends Animal Society

Pat Guerrero, the director, national volunteer engagement for Best Friends Animal Society, is responsible for executing the Best Friends strategy of deepening and broadening the engagement of volunteers with the mission and programs across the United States. Best Friends volunteers make a real difference in the lives of homeless pets — whether they are helping at Best Friends Sanctuary in beautiful Angel Canyon in Utah, helping in their own communities with one of our regional programs, helping to transport pets across the country or helping from home with one of our national opportunities. Prior to joining Best Friends, Pat was a Best Friends volunteer for six years, taking on small and large roles and projects with increasing levels of responsibility for multiple departments within the organization. Her experience is a good example of a volunteer taking on responsibilities that were once thought to be the purview of paid staff. Engaging volunteers and consulting with Best Friends Network partners fits well with Pat’s background in human resources, staffing and training. She lives in Kanab, Utah, with a variety of feline and canine family members, and loves to spend time outdoors kayaking and hiking in the high desert of beautiful southern Utah.
