Founding Executive Director
Rachael Ziering took a roundabout road to get to the rescue world, but now she couldnt imagine her life any differently. Originally from Massachusetts, she graduated from Berklee College of Music and taught music in the public schools for three years. An avid pianist and conductor for theater, she moved to New York City in 2012 to pursue her dream of working on Broadway. That dream came true when she debuted as a pianist in Wicked. While working as a freelance musician, Rachael began volunteering as a foster parent with a local dog rescue group. She began getting more involved with the organization, taking leadership volunteer roles, and eventually joined the staff. Rachael founded Muddy Paws Rescue in 2015, and the organization saved 764 lives in its first year. She currently resides in Queens with her ornery old lady dog and her loving pit mix, and regularly fosters dogs with behavioral challenges.
