Lifesaving Programs Manager, Houston
Whitney Bliton is the lifesaving programs manager for Best Friends Animal Society in Houston, Texas. In this role, she is responsible for managing the daily operations of Best Friends Houston program. Her focus is partnering and collaborating with animal welfare groups in Harris County and the greater Houston area to increase live outcomes and decrease intake at shelters. Whitney manages the Harris County Community Cat Program and has helped with the launch of other local programs, including foster, volunteer, transport and community outreach programs. Whitney became involved in animal welfare after adopting her first dog from a local shelter. After learning more about the shelter, she knew that she wanted to do more to help homeless pets in Houston. Whitney began volunteering with Houston Pets Alive, where she was a team lead at adoption events. Her role evolved into a team lead with the foster program, reviewing the list of animals who only had 24 hours left and placing them in foster care. Whitney currently lives in Houston with her husband, Reilly, son, Richie, and their two dogs, Jack and Cleo.
