National Shelter Embed Program Specialist
Alesha Davidson is a national shelter embed program specialist for Best Friends Animal Society. Growing up, she was actively involved in caregiving for a group of cats at her family home, though she always considered them to be pets rather than community cats. She had no idea then that her family’s personal experience with TNVR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-return) and kitten fostering would one day lead her to find both her passion and her career path. She began her animal welfare career in 2018 when she joined Best Friends to focus on community cat efforts. She has extensive experience with such programming from her time working in shelters in Central and Southern California. In her current role, she expanded outside of the Pacific region to help shelters across the country, focusing on various cat lifesaving topics including community cats, nuisance mitigation and intake diversion. She strives to help shelters build and strengthen a trusting relationship with their communities and find the most effective ways to help more animals and the people who love them. Alesha currently lives in Bakersfield, California, with her cats and human family. While no longer embedded daily in a shelter facility, she actively continues to rescue and foster cats and kittens.
