Senior Strategist East Region
A Best Friends senior strategist for the East region, Angela Rovetto works with leaders in strategic shelters and communities to help them increase lifesaving capabilities. She provides customized guidance and consultation on shelter operations and programs while helping to problem-solve and connect people to resources for their needs and goals.
Angela, who has experience with emergency response, joined the staff at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in 2007 to work with behaviorally and medically challenged dogs. In 2012 she was a founding team member to enhance Best Friends’ work in Los Angeles by participating in the opening of two centers as part of a public-private collaboration with the L.A. city government’s Los Angeles Animal Services.
In her six years working in Los Angeles, she gained diverse hands-on experience in shelter operations, programs and the power of community organizing. She’s led various teams that executed the operations, programs and strategies she utilizes in her current position.
Seeing the results of implementing proven programs and community-embracing philosophies, Angela looked for ways to help others do the same. In 2017, she joined the newly minted Mid-Atlantic region team to work with shelters and communities in Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and has been doing so ever since. With an affinity for senior dogs and those she lovingly calls “busted love nuggets,” Angela has an uncanny ability to remember names of dogs and personalities that she’s been lucky enough to meet and work with. She finds fostering the best way to experience more dogs than she could ever own in one lifetime.
