Danielle Bays senior analyst for cat protection and policy for The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), is a frequent speaker, award-winning author and wiz at cat trivia. Danielle works with animal shelters, cat advocates, policymakers and other stakeholders to broaden support for community cats nationwide. With more than 20 years of experience advocating for various animals, she shifted her focus to community cats after finding her new backyard inhabited by a feline family. Danielle spent five years building a comprehensive and strategic community cat program in Washington D.C. before joining the HSUS in 2015. She focuses on effective solutions to real life challenges.Danielle holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cornell University and a master’s degree in animals and public policy from Tufts University. Passionate about both animal welfare and community engagement, she convinced her friends and neighbors to help her build a large catio for her five cats.
