Susie Aguilar

National Shelter Embed Program Specialist

Best Friends Animal Society

My name is Susie Aguilar, and I am a national shelter embed program specialist for Best Friends Animal Society, providing training support to municipal shelters across the country on various topics such as community cat programs (CCPs), kitten diversion, managed intake and other lifesaving programs.Prior to stepping into my current role on the national embed program team, I worked as a community cat program coordinator for two of Best Friends' programs in Riverside County and Kern County, California, where I oversaw daily operations of the program and training of shelter staff. Additionally, I have years of client services experience within a municipal shelter setting, having worked in shelters in California, where I wore many hats — from overseeing a kitten intervention program to facilitating adoptions, large dog playgroups, trained volunteers and other activities. I am also a wife, cat mom of six and a foster mom all year round. I especially like taking on medical cases, saving little, tiny vulnerable lives and working with rescue groups in my community.
