The Best Friends Visitor Center

The Best Friends Visitor Center, located in the heart of Kanab, is an interactive educational center for tourists to learn more about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, our national programs and, of course, the animals. Folks will have the opportunity to sign up for Sanctuary tours, get information on volunteering, grab a tasty drink, and even meet a few adorable, adoptable pets! Be sure to check out our upcoming events, like Kittens & Coffee and Paint Your Pet's Portrait, listed below.

Every Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Paint Your Pet's Portrait

Come paint a custom portrait of your pet at Best Friends Visitor Center in town. Local artist and instructor, Jennifer Andrews, will walk you through painting over a copy of your pet's photo to create your very own Pet Portrait. Class is $20 per person and includes an 9x12 canvas, paints, brushes, artist instruction, and light refreshments. No prior painting experience is needed and all ages are welcome!

Don't have a pet? No problem! Thumb through one of the many Best Friends' magazines to find an animal of your liking or email a web image to and we'll print it out for you.

Space is limited! Email to reserve your spot.

Every Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Kittens & Coffee

Join us for free coffee and free snuggles from adorable, adoptable kittens. Come for the buzz, stay for the fuzz!

If you live in Kane County, stop by during this time to meet Best Friends' Foster Program Coordinator and find out how you can be a foster home for homeless pets.

Second & fourth Thursday of every month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Ask-A-Trainer

The Dogtown Behavior Consultants from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will choose a dog training or behavior topic or demonstration to focus on during each session. Dogtown Behavior Consultants use the most current scientific evidence supported relationship based training practices to help dogs get adopted. There will be plenty of time for Q&A session afterwards, so bring all your dog behavior and training related questions.

Upcoming scheduled topics:
May 10th: Recall: Get your dog to come when you call
May 24th: Enrichment: Fun stuff to keep your dog busy (and better-behaved)
June 14th: Understanding Shy Dogs

*We do ask that you leave your canine companions at home for these events.
