Andrea Joy (A.J.) Albrecht
Andrea Joy (A.J.) Albrecht is a legislative attorney with Best Friends’ legislative advocacy team. Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York, A.J. is the immediate past chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, the technology vice chair of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, the chair designee of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee and the 2017 recipient of the New Jersey Young Lawyers’ Division Service to the Community Award.
At Best Friends, A.J. works on legislation that supports the no-kill movement, including ending breed discrimination and protecting community cats. She has also volunteered in various capacities with numerous animal welfare organizations, ranging from small grassroots groups to large organizations. A.J. is the co-founder of Positive Pittie Pack Walk and has been rescuing and fostering pit-bull-terrier-like dogs in her home since 2013.
Prior to joining Best Friends, A.J. clerked for a superior court judge and litigated family law matters in private practice.
