Dogtown Behavior Consultant
Marcia Helm is a behavior consultant for Dogtown at Best Friends. She has a bachelor’s degree in anthrozoology (human/non-human animal interactions) and is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. In 2006, Marcia opened 1 on 1 Dog Training and 1 on 1 Foster & Rescue with the mission to better the lives of pets and their people through positive training and creative thinking. She has fostered more than 250 dogs and 100 kittens, giving her hands-on experience with rescued animals and problem behaviors.
Marcia utilizes her knowledge of learning theory and animal behavior to find solutions to clients’ problems with their dogs and cats without using force or punishment. She placed her first post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) service dog in 2016 and hopes to have the chance to train more service dogs in the future.
