Cumberland County Animal Control
The Cumberland County Animal Control Department enforces all state and local laws pertaining to the ownership, regulation and control of dogs, cats, and other animals within the County. The department is responsible for picking up stray animals, livestock, exotic animals as well as wildlife that poses a threat to health and safety and rabid animals. Animal Control may also be able to assist with severely injured wildlife. Animal Control officers respond to calls all over the County, check for compliance with rabies vaccination laws, as well as dog and cat license mandates. The Department also investigates all animal bites as mandated by North Carolina law. Cumberland County Animal Control also operates the County Animal Shelter which houses up to 300 dogs and cats, as well as livestock and exotic pets if needed.
