LOVEPAWS is a 501(c)3 community outreach and animal intake prevention program that helps pets and their owners across the D.C. Metropolitan Area and beyond, with a focus on low-income pet owners in Prince George’s County. We serve pets both in the community and in the county shelter with a two-fold mission. The first part of our mission is to help pet owners in Prince George’s County and the surrounding D.C. metro area keep their pets in their homes and out of the shelter. We do this by offering pet owners various types of assistance including, but not limited to, free pet food through our county-wide food bank and other types of assistance such as help with vet bills. The second part of our mission is promoting the adoption and rescue pull of animals in the shelter, particularly of pit bull type dogs deemed illegal in the county and other at-risk animals, to help reduce euthanasia rates.
