Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort & Shelter (CARES) is a 501c3 not for profit organization designed to improve the condition of our community's shelter while ensuring the livelihood of our shelter pet population.  The CARES' mission is not only to provide a safe haven and find loving homes for these animals, but to also promote a sense of pride and ownership throughout our community.   CARES, along with the people of Clarksdale are working to make the vision a reality. Since taking responsibility of the former city shelter in 2015, CARES has worked tirelessly to provide loving homes for over 95% of the animals within its care.  In 2017, CARES relocated to a brighter, larger building in Clarksdale that has the space to offer better care to the homeless pets of Coahoma County.
