Hard to believe another year has already flown by and we are into the holiday season once again. The holiday season at our house also includes Kunzite and Jasper’s birthdays. Kunzite celebrated her 2nd birthday on December 14th, which she shares with Jasper who turned 7. Jasper, Lizzy and Kunzite had a full day of special treats and presents and are all fast asleep as I write this. I guess that’s the sign of a good day.
Kunzite continues to be a light in our everyday, always wearing her silly happy grin as she bounds around the house. She definitely has an everyday routine with me. For instance, I never have to be in the bathroom alone again. Kunzite accompanies me first thing in the morning to lie on the rug while I shower. When I get home from work at lunch and in the evenings instead of going outside first, she waits for me to go in to the bathroom so can have my undivided attention. At times she even ends up in my lap!
In the evening she helps with household chores by "pre-washing" the dishes that are loaded into the dishwasher and chases the swifer around the kitchen floor. Before bed she follows me into the kitchen to get her ice cube as I fill my water glass for the night and then runs to her "blanket." I always ask her where her blanket is before bed and tell her to "take it to bed," which she does! Typically we wake up in the middle of the night to Kunzite lying between us with her head up on my pillow and her paws straight up in the air or pushing into Miles’ back. The later which usually ends with her back in her doggie bed!
This fall we got to take not one, but two trips to Best Friends and were even able to catch up with some of you fellow Guardian Angels. So, some of you now know Crazy Kunzie first hand. It really was great to meet all of you and we hope to see you again.
We have been blessed with another wonderful year with our four-legged and two-legged family members and hope the same for you and your families. Please remember the less fortunate this holiday season whether it be the two-legged or 4-legged species and know that sometimes even the simplest gesture of kindness is the best gift of all.
