Best Friends–New York

In the Big Apple and the Tri-State area, Best Friends works to support local organizations focused on saving the lives of shelter pets.
As part of this work, Best Friends’ New York team hosts an annual Pet Super Adoption event that includes animals from dozens of rescue groups and shelters throughout the area. Best Friends underwrites, produces and promotes these events that find homes for hundreds of homeless pets.
Additionally, Best Friends organizes "Neighborhood Pit Bull Day", which provides spay/neuter, vaccines and microchipping to some of New York's lowest income communities. We also host local adoption promotions and deliver puppy mill survivors to homes and rescue groups throughout the Tri-State area as part of Best Friends’ Puppy Mill Initiative.
Promoting the stability and growth of animal welfare organizations in the New York area is critical to the mission of No More Homeless Pets. That’s why the Best Friends annual event, Strut Your Mutt provides much-need financial support to dozens of local groups. The popular event, which draws dog lovers to Hudson River Park’s Pier 84, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that money goes directly to participating local rescue groups.
