Industry Professional and Board Member

Micarl "Mica" Hill has been in the hotel industry for over 45-years. After a fruitful career managing numerous luxury hotels from coast to coast, he started his own business as President of Ēmit Hospitality Solutions. Prior to starting his consulting business he was Executive Vice President of Brand Development at Forbes Travel Guide, the authority since 1958 in five-star ratings for hotels, restaurants and spas. Mica is a graduate of California Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a degree in hotel, restaurant and travel management, and was honored in 1991 as the Distinguished Alumnus of the Collins College of Hotel Management.

As a board member of Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption (APRA), Mica and his fellow board members worked with Best Friends to merge with the APRA adoption center, and on October 1, 2016, it became Best Friends in Atlanta. As a member of the board, a volunteer and an ardent supporter of the shelter, Mica took two years away from his hospitality career to become the Executive Director of APRA, working to improve shelter operations and development until the Best Friends merger was complete.

Mica and his wife of 40-years, Laureen, have lived all over the country and recently moved back to their home state of California to Carmel By-The-Sea after six years in Manhattan. They adopted their rescued pet, Scooter in 2014 and together they enjoy biking, walking & hiking on Backroads trips globally, birding, the arts, music, cooking and devoting much of their time to volunteering and board work.
