Saving lives in Houston

Best Friends is committed to bringing the entire country to no-kill in 2025, and while incredible progress has been made, we need your help to cross across the finish line.

Best Friends Animal Society in Houston is working collaboratively with shelters across Texas to save the lives of dogs and cats through adoption promotions, foster programs and transport of pets to places where they’re more likely to be adopted.

Nationwide, Best Friends is bringing lifesaving tactics to shelters and rescue groups like the ones in Houston.

Based on a foundation of compassion and inclusion, we’re working together to help both pets and people. We want to make sure that everyone has the same access to loving pets and that every adoptable pet has the option of enjoying the comfort of a loving home rather than being in a kennel at a shelter.

Our sanctuary: where it all began

From our sanctuary in southern Utah, our work spread across the country. As Best Friends grew, we established regional programs and lifesaving centers that have become hubs for innovation and inspiration. We’re bringing lifesaving strategies and programs to shelters and rescue groups across the country.
