Best Friends–New York
Since 2010, Best Friends Animal Society has been working collaboratively with city shelters, local animal welfare organizations, and passionate advocates and volunteers to save the lives of pets in shelters in New York City and the surrounding tri-state area.
As part of this work, Best Friends has hosted major pet adoption and fundraising events in New York, such as Best Friends Super Adoptions and Strut your Mutt, along with smaller innovative adoption programs and partnerships, such as pet adoption pop-ups and retailer-based adoption events. Best Friends also runs a lifesaving pet foster program in collaboration with Animal Care & Control of New York City and was one of the lead animal welfare organizations in the effort to rescue animals after Superstorm Sandy.
In August 2015, Best Friends secured a SoHo-based location for a new Best Friends pet adoption center in the heart of Manhattan. Scheduled to open in 2016, the center will serve as a prominent East Coast counterpart to the trend-setting pet adoption centers run through Best Friends–Los Angeles. This new center will support New York City shelters and rescue groups working to find loving homes for cats and dogs in need, and will also serve as a place where animal lovers from all around the country can join Best Friends' national commitment to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters.
By working together in New York, we can Save Them All.
