Specialist, Network Engagement – Email and Website

Kate Runy joined Best Friends as Specialist, Network Engagement – Email and Website, after more than 15 years of nonprofit communications work. She’s excited to help ensure network partners can stay up to date with all that Best Friends offers and highlight the work that they do.  

Her experience of being a network partner informs all that she does. Co-founder of Canine Community Outreach of North Carolina, she has always valued the resources Best Friends provided, especially for small organizations like hers.  

Most recently, she worked as a Communications Specialist at BC/DC Ideas, where she worked with nonprofit clients from a variety of sectors, from animal rescue to legal advocacy to conservation. She has a passion for communications and telling people about all that nonprofits offer.  

She lives in Cary, NC, with her husband, Mike, and their very spoiled 9-year-old rescue dog, Hanzo.
