Mary Hartrich

Mary is the Strategist, Network Experience at Best Friends Animal Society. She joined Best Friends as a Sanctuary Cat Care intern in 2018, moving into a full-time position as the Intern Programs Strategist the following year. Her proudest accomplishment in that role was implementing Best Friends first ever paid internship program. In her role on the Network Team, Mary supports the Rachael Ray Foundation Save Them All and No-Kill Excellence grant programs, which provide critical funding to Network Partners who are working to achieve no-kill or striving to maintain their no-kill status.

Prior to animal welfare, Mary worked in the live event and music industries as a radio promotions assistant, hospitality runner, stagehand, customer service representative, and event specialist. These positions taught her the importance of the customer/consumer experience and how to problem-solve on her feet in high stress situations. She loves all things pop culture and maintains her passion for live music by attending lots of concerts and being married to a venue production and operations manager.

Mary lives in Buffalo, NY with her husband Greg, dog Isla, and cats Cashew and Sage. In her free time, she loves attending concerts with friends, traveling, hiking, cooking, and playing tennis, and is eagerly awaiting a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl win (hopefully in her lifetime).
