Tammy Jo Hallman is the National Shelter Support Senior Specialist at Best Friends Animal Society, where she champions professional development and training for municipal animal welfare organizations. Her work centers on creating customized support plans that help shelters and communities thrive—grounded in change management, collaboration, and sustainable, lifesaving strategies.

With nearly 20 years of hands-on experience in animal sheltering, Tammy Jo is deeply passionate about mentorship and capacity-building. She has supported countless shelter professionals in growing their skills, confidence, and impact through one-on-one coaching, program development, and peer-to-peer learning. Her approach is rooted in empathy, encouragement, and a belief that investing in people is key to transforming animal welfare.

Tammy Jo has played a pivotal role in helping multiple municipal shelters dramatically improve their save rates, guiding them to reach—and sustain—no-kill benchmarks. Through strategic planning, staff development, and community engagement, she’s helped organizations overcome longstanding challenges and build programs that save more lives.

Her philosophy is built on the power of connection—between shelters and the communities they serve, and between people and the animals who enrich their lives. She thrives on helping others discover their potential and take meaningful steps toward lasting change.

She earned her degree from the University of Roll Tide and currently lives in sunny Florida with her cat, Ninja Tickles, and her fluffy soulmate, Spenciepants. Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering locally, binge-watching Star Trek, and celebrating Halloween all year long. 🐶🐱🖖🎃
