Melissa Jones

Melissa Jones is a dedicated animal welfare professional currently based in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where she shares her home with her beloved 11-year-old rescue dog, Ramses, six cats, and a rotating group of foster animals. A true rolling stone, Melissa has lived in nine U.S. states and spent time living abroad, bringing a broad perspective and adaptability to her work. 

With over a decade of experience at Best Friends Animal Society, Melissa has partnered with shelters, rescue organizations, and the public to create positive outcomes for animals in need. Her extensive background in event management has enabled her to successfully plan and execute adoption events, fundraisers, and educational initiatives that support and elevate rescue efforts. 

As a member of the East Region team, Melissa collaborates directly with animal shelters to implement industry best practices. She plays a vital role in identifying and applying the most effective strategies to help organizations increase lifesaving capacity and achieve sustainable success.
